Creative Ceiling Details & Giveaway Winner

Whenever I start working on a project I try to think of ways to make a room feel special.  Whether its an interesting piece of furniture or by adding some sort of architectural detail, I want every room to have at least one feature that draws your attention.
I received a lot of positive feedback from the transformation of this room in large part due to adding beams to the ceiling.

Here are some amazing ceiling details!

I wrote about my guest post on The Sandbucket blog here.  The debut issue of this exciting print and digital magazine is this Monday, January 30th!!

I can't wait to get my copy!  I have seen a little snippet of an article by photographer Ashlee Raubach giving her tips on how families can get the most from their family shoots.  I know there are a ton of other great resources, images and DIY articles that I am looking forward to reading.

The Sandbucket Magazine has offered to give one of my readers a free digital print of their Debut issue.  If you are interested in getting a copy just leave a comment and I'll select a winner on Monday January 30th.

Have a great weekend!

Happenings....

Just wanted to check in and let you all know I will get back to posting more frequently, I promise!  I have some exciting new ventures in the works and have had to dedicate my extra time to getting things in order.

I have made a few small changes to BDG including a new logo...

I love the simplicity of it!  Ashly made a couple of changes to the design and I couldn't be happier.

I am also scheduling some new projects to get photographed soon.  I can't wait to have some new material to add to my portfolio.  I should have them ready to share in a couple of months.  In the meantime, I'll get better at snapping more photos of my daily design work.

Hope you are all having a great week!!

Looking to fashion for inspiration

I'm knee deep in fabrics working on a few new color schemes and I am feeling so inspired by these images from Prada's 2012 Spring/Summer print campaign.  I love the classic tailored lines with playful prints.  I am drawn to the mix of bold patterns and rich jewel tones grounded by the soft blush, blue and green hues.  This is exactly the inspiration I have been looking for.  Thanks Prada!

Kelly Green

I tend to get obsessed with one particular color at a time and my newest obsession is Kelly Green.  I recently added it as an accent color in a client's home and haven't had the chance to really use and abuse it.  I love it mixed with strong hues as well as lighter more muted shades.

DIY Challenge

I found these books today in a design showroom and I instantly loved them until I found out the price.
Then I was thinking that this would be a great DIY until I realized that there is no time in my life for DIY projects.  I can't even manage to DIY dinner....sad but true!

So, I have a DIY challenge.  If any of my creative readers out there feel like giving this a try PLEASE email me the pictures and I'll post them for us all to learn how to do this!

Some thick novels, solid white/off white fabric, a large photo, a little mod podge....presto!  OK, maybe not that easy and I'm sure very time consuming but if I told you the price you might be motivated to try!

Photos taken from an old book or personal photos...

I think the possibilities are endless and maybe someday I'll give it a try!
