If your lamp is a couple inches taller than 30" that's great too! There are a lot of trendy lamps right now that are even taller....this "Tip" is just a guide to help when you're buying a lamp online or in the store. I nev...Thanks for the valuable information, Alison! I never knew what the rule-of-thumb was & always just tried different lamps until one seemed right. It's interesting that most of my lamps are at least 30 inches tall, but most are 1 to 3 inches taller. Is this the right look?
