Neutral Nursery

My last post featured this design concept board for this sweet nursery.
It's soft and cozy for baby Sloane, who was born just 2 weeks ago!

Here is how this little room turned out...
~Neutral Nursery~
Soft and simple.
The round crib is such a beautiful piece of furniture!
We are waiting for the ruffled white cribskirt as well as this Restoration Hardware floor lamp/chandelier (so, please just pretend they're there :)).  The crystal lamp will really add height behind the rocker and a perfect touch of femininity to this space.

This built-in was already in the room and the center portion made the perfect spot for a changing area.

Some might think that white in a nursery is a disaster waiting to happen.  However, the slip cover chair and bedding can be washed and/or bleached for stains and will not fade like darker colors.
I love this soft sweater looking area rug.

I found these charming vintage Alice in Wonderland prints and had them custom framed.

Congrats to this beautiful family on their new little addition!

Nursery Design Board

I don't think there is anything better than designing a nursery!
For this nursery my client wanted to work with a neutral color scheme and to keep the room soft and simple with a little Restoration Hardware feel.
My client lives in California so we worked on this via eDesign and I was able to install the room while I was visiting this past week.
This is the design board I made for the space...
This room has a challenging layout.  It has a wall to wall built-in and two sets of doors.  It was difficult to decide on a location for the crib so this beautiful round crib was the perfect solution.  Plus, it is such a beautiful piece of furniture!!

The wall to wall built-in needed some soft accessories that would work with the feel of the room.  These are some of the items we ordered from Restoration Hardware ahead of time and I shopped for the remaining items when I was installing the room.

Excited to share the photos!

Spring Break/Work Trip

My spring break was busy!  I spent two weeks in California working on projects and visiting with friends and family. It was a great trip!  Not only did I work hard and get a lot accomplished but I also got to meet up with some of my favorite people.  It was a very successful trip!

Some of you may have followed along on my facebook page but here is a re-cap with additional photos...

{WORK}
I worked with one of my clients selecting tile for her guest bath.  I can't wait to see the finished product.

I selected and framed 12 pieces of art! The framer I use (and love) managed to have everything ready for me in time to have installed before I left!  I was so thankful!!

I also installed the cutest nursery (pictures coming this week) and styled a total of 7 bookcases which required a lot of shopping! I met two new clients that I look forward to working with and finalized a lot of loose ends with various on going projects (I will post pictures soon).  It was really a full trip but I did manage to play on my weekends...

{PLAY}

The first Saturday we arrived we hit the beach...we had beautiful weather!

I love these sweet little girls!  Sabrina and her friend, Haven, had another joint party this year to celebrate the big "5"! It was a pink, pajama, pizza and movie party.  It was so cute and we threw it together in about 5 minutes....Teamwork!!

Love this girl!
The day before we left I took the two bday girls to Disneyland to continue the celebration.  It was such a fun day!!

When I got home...
I was so excited to be able to attend the South by Southwest Music festival when I got home.  I was worried I might miss it with the CA trip planned but was ecstatic when I realized I would make it for the final day.  It was a great day out with my hubby listening to great music and people watching.
I fall deeper in love with this funky town the more I explore!

Stay tuned as I post some project photos from my trip!  :)

Guest Post: Arcadian Home

I have a great guest post today from Acadian Home....Can't wait to share with you all what I have been up to in California!
~Alison

Hello, everyone! It's Mari here from Arcadian Home blog, an inspiring place to find lots of decorating ideas including ways to add pretty table decor, colorful wall art and lovely lighting fixtures to interior spaces. I'm so excited to be visiting BDG Style with a guest post about one of my favorite light fixtures--pendants. Do you love pendant lights too? Today, I've brought along eight images to inspire your interior lighting projects. From clear glass to black metal, you'll surely want to incorporate at least one, or perhaps a grouping, of these irresistible beauties into your design plans. Oh, the possibilities. Please enjoy!
Pendant Lighting
A neutral living room is beautiful with subtle touches of global style. Fluted pendant lights like the one shown here are a lovely alternative to the traditional drum pendant with its sleek lines.
Pendant Lighting
This contemporary eat-in kitchen is touched with gold inside oversized black metal pendant lights. It's a wonderful space for family meals with plenty of room for entertaining.
Pendant Lighting
Considering one glass pendant light for a master bedroom? Perhaps ten would be better. This pretty bedroom with a dramatic ocean view boasts a lovely cluster of pendants in an array of sizes and decorative glass patterns.
Pendant Lighting
Metal and glass lanterns are often seen in entrance halls. Here, the designer has used a large contemporary version of that style to great effect. The light presents a lovely contrast to the traditional architecture of the space.
Pendant Lighting
As seen here in a warm and inviting contemporary kitchen, glass pendants are a great lighting choice for over the breakfast bar. I love the comfortable seating area included in the design and the decision to take those beautiful glass tiles beyond the backsplash all the way to the ceiling.
Pendant Lighting
In a bold lighting move, six matte black pendants are hung high above this stunning contemporary living room. These metal lights with their interesting shapes and golden linings are currently at the top of my wish list. Can't decide on just one shape? That problem is easily solved--choose one of each.
Pendant Lighting
The lining inside the drum pendant light adds a bit of interesting pattern to this chic living room with mostly solid colors.
Pendant Lighting
A Moravian star pendant light is a perfect choice for this sedate feminine bath. The pale textured wallcovering is quite lovely here.
