Guest Room~San Clemente Project

My San Clemente project posts are coming to a close.  I hope you have been enjoying the photos! Ashlee really did a great job capturing the feel of the home.

The Guest Room
I really love the color scheme in this room!

This room has a funky shape to it (long and narrow) and really did not have a great bed wall. It would have been too tight to put an actual bed in the room so I thought the best solution was a daybed (she needed to be able to sleep 2). It is not easy to find a nice looking daybed however, I think this one from Ballard Designs in white linen looks soft and pretty.

Just a little design tip:  Whenever I make pillows out of larger prints I almost always use 1/4 welt in a solid color along the edge to break up the pattern.

I will post photos of the Office on Monday.

Belmont Design Group in HGTV Magazine!!

I was so excited when HGTV Magazine called me wanting to use a photograph from one of my design projects (shot by Ashlee Raubach) in their latest issue.  I worked with them on this lil' snippet months ago and have been anxiously waiting to see it in print.  Very exciting!

This is HGTV Magazine's third issue and they already have a HUGE readership. I really love this new home decor magazine because it reads very much like blogs.  It gives the average home owner ideas of creatively enhancing their home in approachable and affordable ways!

(HGTV Magazine June/July issue 2012)

Have any of you seen an issue of this magazine yet?  What do you think of it?

The Kitchen~San Clemente Project

Today, I decided to post my favorite room in the San Clemente home I have been posting about (check here, here and here to see more from this home).

The Kitchen

the story...

Before
As you can see, this kitchen is a beautiful space!  The floors, the white cabinets, the appliances and countertops are all beautiful.  The avocado green checkerboard backsplash (which on its own is not terrible it just didn't work in our overall plan) and pendants were the only aspects we wanted to change.  So, with a couple of minor changes we were able to create a space in line with their personal style and color palette.

Instead of using the nook area for a table and chairs we created this cozy sitting area.  It's the perfect spot for family and friends to hang out.  I also love the color and texture the furniture brings into the kitchen.  There is an area off to the side that worked perfectly for a table and chairs so their everyday dining was not compromised.

I love this arabesque tile.  It works beautifully at creating the "all white kitchen" while adding just a touch of pattern.

Next Monday I will share the Guest Room.

Have a great week!!!

Family Room Design

Welcome back!
I hope you all had a great Mother's Day!

Today, I am featuring the Family Room from the San Clemente project I have been featuring the past couple of Monday's.  To see the Dining Room click here and for the Master Bedroom Retreat click here.

I only needed to add a rug, ottoman, side table and pillows to pull this room together with their existing pieces.

This geometric jute rug is from one of my favorite natural fiber rug lines, Merida.

I love using oversized ottomans in family room's especially, if there are kids around!  My husband made this tray since I could not find a large tray anywhere!  I love the way it turned out!

There are a few more rooms left to share so stay tuned.

San Clemente Dining Room

Wow!  This weekend flew by!  I hope you all enjoyed yours!
Today, I am featuring the Dining Room from the San Clemente project I completed.  If you would like to see the Master Bedroom Retreat you can click here.

The design of this dining room started with the selection of the Chandelier.  We loved the blue glass and thought it was a perfect way to bring in a touch of color but still keep the room feeling soft.

The best accessory in this room is the sunlight!!
