NATURAL RETREAT part I

I'm so excited to share this project that I just had photographed.  I thought I would share with you some of the design process pics in this first post and then follow up with the completed room shots in my next post.
My client requested a very organic, minimalist design approach and wanted a neutral color palette with layers of texture and materials.

Before
New window treatments were the first priority and with the shape of the room and window size it was difficult for my client to decided on a covering that was functional yet consistent with their personal style.  The tan paint also needed to be switched out to Swiss Coffee.

The Process

It was important to give this room personality and more of a custom feel.  Since we were painting the walls white I thought it would look great to create some contrast by adding stained window casings and dark beams to the ceiling.

Alas, the new architectural elements have created the perfect canvas to compliment my clients design style and new furnishings.
Stay tuned for the After photos.

Adding the casings and beams definitely gives the room more personality. I really like the high contrast between the wall colour and the floor, casings & beams. Great idea Alison.
