Sneak Peek...Huntington Beach Project

The design process can take some time and this is one of those spaces that I cannot wait to share!!  We are so close to completion that I thought I would post a quick sneak peek. We just delivered some furniture today but still waiting on a rug, coffee table, side table, additional pillows and artwork.  Once we get it all in (very soon!!!) I will post more photos.

I am in love with this house...
These chairs are AMAZING!  The sleek arm, the crisp white and those chrome nailheads...I love these!

This simple linen tone on tone stripe pairs beautifully with the countertop.  Words cannot describe this kitchen!!  Just wait!

This mercury glass lamp from Jamie Young is so striking!

Stay tuned for more photos!

NATURAL RETREAT part I

I'm so excited to share this project that I just had photographed.  I thought I would share with you some of the design process pics in this first post and then follow up with the completed room shots in my next post.
My client requested a very organic, minimalist design approach and wanted a neutral color palette with layers of texture and materials.

Before
New window treatments were the first priority and with the shape of the room and window size it was difficult for my client to decided on a covering that was functional yet consistent with their personal style.  The tan paint also needed to be switched out to Swiss Coffee.

The Process

It was important to give this room personality and more of a custom feel.  Since we were painting the walls white I thought it would look great to create some contrast by adding stained window casings and dark beams to the ceiling.

Alas, the new architectural elements have created the perfect canvas to compliment my clients design style and new furnishings.
Stay tuned for the After photos.

MOOD BOARD INSPIRATION

I stumbled upon this mood board from Tori Spelling's Living Room and had to share.  I love the mix of bright colors, textures, styles and pretty much everything about it.  She was inspired by the fabric she found for the draperies and designed the room from there.

"I made this mood board for a living room with a grey, yellow, and dark rose palette with organic pops of wood, stone, and shell"...Tori Spelling

What stands out to you the most in this room?
For me its the GORgeous tall yellow lamps! They really pull the yellow out of that fabric.

TRADITIONAL HOME: SNEAK PEEK

A sneak peek into another Design in Progress.  As soon as we get the area rugs and window treatments in place I will add more photos!  This is a beautiful traditional home that was in need of some color so we added a blue/white/paprika color scheme.  The bursts of color have made a big impact on the interior! I custom framed the artwork to coordinate with the feel of the home and to bring out the colors in the fabrics (read here).

family room
-i had this artwork tweaked a little to add more of the colors that are in the fabrics.

-the orange geometric is a favorite print on mine (schumacher greek key in color: ruby) and will be used for draperies.  The other two fabrics are for pillows on the sofa.

-added new drapery, sofa pillows and woven wood shades (pictures coming soon)!

stair case

-this is the first wall you see walking into the home.  Adding this artwork really set the tone for the rest of the home.

 living room
-added two sofas, pillows, orchid arrangement and cocktail table.  Waiting for the drapery and area rug.

-also added this custom arrangement in a rustic tray/planter with rocks and various succulents for the kitchen island.

stay tuned....more pictures COMING SOON!

DESIGN IN PROGRESS...

I really kick myself for not taking BEFORE photos of this beautiful home to demonstrate the impact of color!  The walls were originally a goldish color with red and yellow accessories throughout.  NOW, it has turquoise walls with black and white accents.  Just changing the paint color and accent pillows made a drastic change.  We are waiting for a few finishing touches so for now I just have some close up shots to share.

-added new pillows to the white slip covered sofa in the Family Room

-added wood paneling to the arches....beautiful!

-added a white beveled subway tile backsplash.  I LOVE beveled subway tiles!

Love the dimension of this tile.
(I do not love this close up picture-even with my new camera!  Clearly I have zero photography skills!)

We are just waiting on the Family Room draperies, wallpaper above the new wainscot in the Dining Room and to get new sofa's in the Living Room.  Can't wait to see it all come together!  More pictures to come :)
