BDG Update

Geez, my last post was in May?!  Writing a blog post has been on my mind but to be honest, I just haven't had a chance!
We moved out of our rental home and have been living in California until school starts in Texas.  We have been moving around to my Mom's house, staying at friends and hotels....living the gypsy life.

The minute we arrived in California I got to work with my Cali clients.

BDG update...
We have been working on a very large project completely changing everything in a home that's just over 6,000 sq. feet.
This is an iphone shot of some of the materials we are using!
We are warming things up in this home.
Rich woods, chocolate brown, navy blue with touches of chartreuse.

We were in need of updating our upholstery swatches from the manufacturer we use so a trip to the Los Angeles based warehouse was a must.  Our visit turned into a factory tour to see new product!
We had a great lesson on the tufting process.
This Ah-mazing sofa takes a week to tuft by hand.  We were mesmerized by this work of art!

Even with my work load I am trying to sneak in as much time as I can enjoying summer with my family!  Our trip to Las Vegas has been a highlight.  Who knew Vegas was such a fun place to take kids?!

I hope you are all enjoying your summer!  More updates to come!

Cute Pillows and a Move!

Hi guys.
This blog is having abandonment issues...sorry!
I'm all over the place lately, working and moving AGAIN to another rental before our house is ready (December now).  I am flying to California today to help my Mom move into her house and to help her put the place together.  I am looking forward to spending time with her and to help beautify my vacation house, I mean, her house.
We plan on spending at least a month at her house every summer, I can't wait to get it all set up!
For the kids room we are doing two twin beds.  Similar to this set up (my Mom loved this room)...

This layout just works so well in a small room with two kids.  Also, if my Mom has guests over they each get their own bed instead of squeezing together on a queen mattress.

I loved these pillows I found at Homegoods here in Austin so I decided to purchase them and ship to her. I have one floral and one lumbar pillow for each bed.  They are so happy and bright.
With the bright colors and different prints, I just wanted a solid white quilt and found THIS one at Potterybarn Teen.
I am excited to see this room come together.

As for the rest of the house, we will be combining a lot of my Mom's furniture pieces with some of my grandma's furniture in the house.  It will be a big puzzle that I am excited to put together.

I plan to post some photos of my trip and the progress we are making on Facebook.  If you want to see all the happenings, please follow along here.

Adios!

Cheap, stylish, rad....my new nightstands!

Happy Monday y'all!  I hope your weekend was wonderful!
I was at Ikea this weekend looking for products to design an office space with and I came across these BEAUTIFUL Chests!!

They are the Nyvoll chest and let me tell you, they are the best thing Ikea has right now!! They are a GREAT price point at $199.00 for the size and style!!!
First, they are the perfect size for a Night Stand at 35 3/8 x 31 1/2 h.  I prefer night stands to be around 30" high and much wider than what manufacturers classify as night stands.  I tend to look more at dressers or chests because I like something that is at least 30" wide.  So, these Ikea chests are the perfect scale!

Second, the finish is beautiful. I love the two tone aspect of them with the very subtle grey wash/natural wood color with the contrast of the glossy/lacquer drawer faces.
Third, these puppies can really look high end by just adding impressive drawer pulls.

I'm pretty sure I have found my nightstands for our new house.  I am going to add these brass drawer pulls from My Knobs and pair them with a simple linen headboard something along the lines of this...

I am really excited about this find!!!
Have a great week!

Lately

I just wanted to check in!  I haven't blogged in a while, so sorry!
I have been busy working on a new home here in Austin.  We are in the beginning stages, selecting materials for the kitchen and bathrooms.
Here's a little taste of some things we have selected.
More to come :)
